Relationship Property / Trust Lawyer

Nicholsons is looking for an experienced Relationship Property/Trust Lawyer to join our progressive team, applicants with 3-6yrs PQE.

The role will require the successful applicant to manage their own Relationship Property practice as well as assisting senior partners in the areas of Trusts, succession planning and asset protection. This work is undertaken for private fee-paying clients.

The successful applicant will be energetic and organised and have the ability to demonstrate their experience and aptitude in these areas. Managing client relationships and files at a high level is also required.

The position is a full-time role, but we are flexible in work arrangements and can accommodate a candidate wanting to create their own unique working model.
Remuneration will be commensurate with the skills and experience of the successful applicant.

Two Lawyers / One full-time job share role / 3+ PQE

Nicholsons has a unique opportunity available in their long-standing firm in Taranaki.

This modern role would see two experienced Property/Commercial/Trust Lawyers managing an existing Commercial portfolio of clients under the supervision of one of the Commercial Managing Partners.

The combination of communication and technology would be at the forefront of this role.  The successful applicants will be working via a universal calendar and Microsoft ‘Teams’ while rotating in and out of a shared office space.

The successful applicants will have the opportunity to liaise with their managing Partner and shape a working environment that would not only accommodate our busy practice but offer both parties a great deal of flexibility and work life balance.

This position will be incredibly diverse and interesting covering all aspects of property law managing residential/commercial/property files for individuals and small to medium businesses.

Experienced Estates Manager

Nicholsons has an exciting opportunity available for a highly experienced person to manage the firm’s estate files. Work will be administered with a high level of attention to detail, and in line with current legislation and the firm’s best practice. The successful candidate must display an exceptional degree of empathy and be able to understand and connect with the estate beneficiaries and executors, while communicating expert legal representation on behalf of the estate. Your professional, mature, and highly organised nature will ensure matters are addressed in a methodical and timely manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administration of existing and new estates
  • Manage and oversee the preparation of High Court probate and other administrative applications
  • Arrange for estate assets and debts to be identified and dealt with in accordance with the terms of the Will
  • Preparation of statements of assets, liabilities and beneficiary distributions

Skills & Experience:

  • Administration experience, preferably in the trustee industry or legal secretarial/executive environment
  • Be self-motivated and have strong computer skills
  • Have excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • A great work ethic, with a desire to always deliver excellence
  • Possess the ability to work autonomously as well as fit in as part of the Nicholsons team

Senior Office Administrator

Our busy law firm is looking for a Senior Office Administrator with extensive experience in customer service and front of house administration.

Excellent presentation, compassion and resilience are of utmost importance.

No job would be too big or too small for the successful applicant and there will be a wide variety of tasks to perform.

As you will be one of the first points of contact with our clients, you will be responsible for portraying the firm’s image in a confident and professional manner.

An exceptional attitude both in person and on the telephone is crucial.

Duties may include

  • Working on reception
  • Scheduling meetings and appointments
  • Directing clients to meeting rooms
  • Create, oversee, distribute, and file correspondence and documents
  • Monitor and maintain equipment and supplies
  • Research, records management and filing
  • Computer/typing work
  • Dictation
  • Photocopying/scanning
  • General cleaning/tidying duties
  • General errands out of the office as required

Administration officers need to have knowledge of:

  • Software such as Microsoft Office or Excel
  • Website management and database systems
  • Keyboard and computing skills
  • Minute taking and report writing
  • Dictation

Good time management and the ability to work independently, as well as part of a team, are essential.
