Full-time Graduates - Commercial/Property team

Full-time Graduates in the Commercial/Property team – Nicholsons Lawyers, New Plymouth.

The successful applicants will be mentored by one of the Partners on a varied range of commercial/property matters and will be guided on a clear pathway toward progression over the next 2 years.

Graduates will be trained in all aspects of running a legal practice, this ensures you gain a practical understating of the firm’s business model as well as empowering you with the skills to confidently manage the day-to-day obligations of a Lawyer.

To be seriously considered for this role, you will:

  • Be completing your final year of university with a strong academic transcript or
  • Be undertaking your Professional Studies or
  • Have recently obtained a practising certificate from the NZLS and have up-to-date knowledge of NZ law and legislation.
  • Have the skills to communicate in both written and oral with ease and a natural style.
  • Have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication, and interpersonal abilities.
  • A confident manner when dealing with clients and colleagues.
  • Demonstrate that you can work quickly and efficiently without compromising quality.
  • A passion for the legal field and a desire to progress, learn and grow.
  • Be involved in community interests and hobbies outside of study/work.

Legal Secretary/Administrator | Estates

A position has arisen for a full-time experienced Legal Secretary / Legal Administrator with an Estates administration background.

A unique role, this person will work alongside the Estates Manager and Partners as part of a team working with estate beneficiaries and executors to communicate expert legal advice in a supportive and understanding way.

Job Description

Provide comprehensive administrative support to the Estate team ensuring smooth daily operations.

Manage calendars, schedule appointments and coordinate meetings with clients and internal staff.
Prepare legal documents, including court documents, land transfer documents and all associated documentation.

Assisting in organising and maintaining client files ensuring accurate and up to date information.

Co-ordinate client meetings and provide administration support during meetings.

Collaborate closely with the Estates team to streamline processes.

Liaising with Solicitors, Courts, and other Government agencies.

Drafting letters and emails as required.

Preparing invoices and statements.

Requirements

Experience in Estates Administration

Detail-oriented and highly organised

Ability to multitask and prioritise effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Excellent attention to details and a meticulous approach to handling sensitive information

Proficiency in using computer software and advanced knowledge in Microsoft office suite.

Excellent computer, typing and formatting skills, including digital dictation transcription.

Exceptional communication skills both written and verbal to interact confidently with both clients and colleagues.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Legal Secretary/Administrator, to work closely with a Commercial Partner and play a key role in a well-established practice.

The Role

As a Experienced Legal Secretary/Administrator, you will provide essential administrative and organisational support to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the practice. Your responsibilities will include:

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting on a variety of commercial and property files.
  • Drafting and preparing legal documents.
  • Drafting letters and emails as required.
  • Liaising with clients.
  • Liaising with solicitors, courts, and other government agencies.
  • Diary and file management.
  • Excellent computer, typing and formatting skills, including digital dictation transcription.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills, with a strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication.
  • Experience with conveyancing and settlement processes.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A minimum of 2 + years’ experience as a Legal Secretary/Administrator in NZ.
  • Must be available to work 37.5hrs per week, Monday – Friday 8.30am – 5pm.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • A professional and discreet approach to handling sensitive information.
