Legal Executive - Estates

Nicholsons Lawyers is seeking a full time Senior Legal Executive to assist our very busy Estates Team.

A unique role, this person will work alongside the Estates Manager and Partners as part of a team working with estate beneficiaries and executors to communicate expert legal advice in a supportive and understanding way.  The approach to this role is one of care and empathy, along with the ability to perform a high volume of administrative tasks with the utmost attention to detail.  It is a busy and varied position, and the firm feels privileged to be supporting these clients and their families through what is without doubt a very difficult time. The Estates team offers a high level of service to our clients every step of the way to ensure the process is a seamless one and each member of this team is essential in making this happen.

 

Job Description

  • Preparing High Court suite of documents for applications for Probate, Letters of Administration documentation and filing to the High Court.
  • Preparation of E-dealings and related documents for Landonline dealings.
  • Preparing Deeds of Consent, Indemnity and Executors Resolutions.
  • Preparing and updating the estate inventory and taking certified copies of AML documents.
  • Meeting with clients and completing initial forms.
  • Managing correspondence from banks, accountants, insurance companies, Kiwisaver other institutions.
  • Liaising with Partners on files as required.
  • Preparing trust account and distribution statements.
  • Completing distributions to beneficiaries and reporting to clients.
  • Billing and reporting to clients.
  • Liaise with share registries and share brokers with transfer and sales of shareholdings for the estate or beneficiaries.
  • Prepare documentation for applications to obtain a reseal of Grant of Probate in countries outside of NZ (such as UK and Australia).
  • Liaising with clients via phone and email.
  • Arranging and attending client’s meetings.
  • Keeping accurate records of all meetings for the Estates Manager.
  • All other estate related administration matters as directed by Estate Manager or partners from time to time.

 

Requirements

Previous estate experience preferred.

Detail-oriented and highly organised.

Punctual and reliable.

Exceptional administrative skills ideally in legal administration.

Ability to multitask and prioritise effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Excellent attention to details and a meticulous approach to handling sensitive information.

Proficiency in using computer software and advanced knowledge in Microsoft office suite.

Excellent computer, typing and formatting skills, including digital dictation transcription.

Exceptional communication skills both written and verbal to interact confidently with both clients and colleagues.

Commercial Lawyer 1-2+ years PQE

Commercial Lawyer

Nicholsons Lawyers is looking for a full-time experienced Commercial/Property Lawyer 1-2+ years PQE.

The successful applicant will be mentored by one of the Partners in the firm’s commercial division and will develop strong legal skills over a range of commercial/property matters.

Applicants would be required to work well as part of a team, show resilience while working under pressure and be able to display confidence with the firm’s clients.

 

To be seriously considered for this role, you will have:

  • A law degree from a recognized NZ university
  • A current practising certificate from the NZLS with up-to-date knowledge of NZ law and legislation
  • At least 1-2years post-graduate experience
