About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and detail-focused professional to support a senior member of staff in our commercial/property team. The role covers a range of practice areas including commercial property, rural, trust and employment law.  This is a full-time permanent position ideal for someone who thrives in a busy, client-focused environment and enjoys working collaboratively within a supportive team.

What we are looking for

• Candidates must have experience as a Legal Administrator or Legal Executive and/or hold a current Legal Executive qualification from the NZ Institute of Legal Executives.
• Have a strong working knowledge of legal procedures and documentation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines with accuracy.

Key Responsibilities

• Assisting on a variety of commercial and property files.
• Drafting and preparing legal documents.
• Drafting letters and emails as required.
• Liaising with clients.
• Liaising with solicitors, courts, and other government agencies.
• Diary and file management.
• Excellent computer, typing and formatting skills, including digital dictation transcription.
• Excellent planning and organisational skills, with a strong attention to detail.
• Excellent communication.
• Conveyancing and settlement processes.

Commercial Lawyer

Nicholsons Lawyers is looking for a full-time experienced Commercial/Property Lawyer 1-2+ years PQE.

The successful applicant will be mentored by one of the Partners in the firm’s commercial division and will develop strong legal skills over a range of commercial/property matters.

Applicants would be required to work well as part of a team, show resilience while working under pressure and be able to display confidence with the firm’s clients.

To be seriously considered for this role, you will have:

• A law degree from a recognized NZ university
• A current practising certificate from the NZLS with up-to-date knowledge of NZ law and legislation
• At least 1-2years post-graduate experience
• The skills to communicate in both written and oral with ease and a natural style
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication, and interpersonal abilities
• Be able to give practical common-sense advice in all circumstances
• Demonstrate that you can work quickly and efficiently without compromising quality
• A passion for the legal field and a desire to continue learning and growing.
• An attitude of getting things done and recognising that client’s time and money matter

Graduates will be trained in all aspects of running a legal practice, this ensures you gain a practical understating of the firm’s business model as well as empowering you with the skills to confidently manage the day-to-day obligations of a Lawyer.

• Be completing your final year of university with a strong academic transcript or
• Be undertaking your Professional Studies or
• Have recently obtained a practising certificate from the NZLS and have up-to-date knowledge of NZ law and legislation.
